TO THE TREES!

I've made a big decision. I will be going to Battle Brothers this year! Last time I played in a tournament at Warhammer World I was 17 years old, that means it's been 16 years! Then I took my beloved Wood Elves, I remember sitting on the side of a bed in a B&B finishing the bases at 1am on the morning of the tournament. I didn't win or even get in the top ten but it was one of the most fun weekends I'd ever had. Those Wood Elves have long since been sold for rent money and I've moved out of the hobby and back in again so when I saw that the weekend after the grand reopening of Warhammer World was a doubles tournament it reignited some nostalgic fires in my hobbyist's soul and I couldn't resist signing up.

As readers of this blog and anyone I meet randomly in the street will tell you I have a large Vampire Counts force now, on it's way to being painted at 3000pts, and play with it regularly. I love my Vampires and they're quite a pretty looking army to boot. However, it's been 16 years, I couldn't return to Warhammer World without the army that started it all for me. With the aid of a very good friend (Samuel!) I now have 1000pts of new Wood Elf models on their way to me. But some remnant of my old force remains and joins the new recruits so for your enjoyment here is the first model of my new Wood Elf force, my spellsinger:

Here's the 1st draft of my 1300pts list, to me it seems a bit sparse but I'm assured Wood Elves are an elite army and as my partner is an Ogre Kingdom's player I'm not too worried about massed units:

Anyone got any thoughts?

In the grim darkness of my mother's loft

While visiting my mum this weekend to take her cards, presents and affection I discovered my old Eldar army in the loft. What surprised me is that not only is it at least 1500 pts but that all the bits are there! Heads, arms, weapons everything! Well done past Chris! I used to love Eldar when I was collecting 40k and no matter what other armies I'd try out I'd then go back to my beloved Eldar. If I remember rightly this was the 3rd Eldar army I did with the newer models. I imagine if I dig around in my mum's loft a bit more I'd find fire dragons and swooping hawks. If you look very carefully you'll see the original Avatar model with the slave girls from the old dark elf set. So now I'm thinking that maybe I'll start playing 40k again. What do you guys think?

Finished Terrorgheist (Terry for short)

And that's all folks here is my finished Terrorgheist which I have come to refer to as Terry!

The snow is still drying so when it's done it'll look more like melting snow than white powder but I think it looks good, pretty happy with how it all turned out in the end!

The trouble with Terrorgheists (Day 2 update)

Just a quick update as I managed to get a bunch more done. Terrorgheist is now finished (this isn't the greatest picture) so now onto the basing. I love basing and this has a lovely large base for me to play with. I like to keep it simple so no extra figures but a couple of creepy trees and a sign (not sure what it'll say but I was thinking of "Do Not Feed" in German). I've already painted and drybrushed the cork to look like rocks, sanded the full base and inked it to brown now is the long wait (sleep) until the ink dries. Check it out:

The trouble with terrorgheists ( Day 2 )

Ok another couple of hours on the bugger today and it's nearly finished. Just some details to pick out and some glowing eyes to add. I've already started on the base just so I can get the sand on there by tonight and drying (otherwise it'll take too long and won't be done by Sunday) I really do love the wings which have been inked several time to get a depth of colour but also the feeling of necrotic flesh. It's at the stage at the moment where you feel like it wasn't worth it but I know if I push through its really over halfway done and will look great by tomorrow

I did something amazing

I normally keep my work life away from my hobby but there's a lot of you that read this and it's quite important. Over the weekend I did something pretty amazing with a fellow comedian Ben, you can read the specifics here - https://dailypurch.wordpress.com/2015/03/02/that-thing-we-did/ but essentially we walked for 21 hours visiting 103 embassies in London. It was somewhere between 48-56 miles of constant walking. We did it for Comic Relief and have currently raised £1170 which is brilliant but we would love to raise a bit more.

So if you think what we did was amazing and have some spare money that a charity could use head over to our donations page and give whatever you can - http://my.rednoseday.com/sponsor/vanderpurch
